BGC Summer Camp-a-Thon Has Wall To-Wall Schedule of Fun

Summer camp serves so many needs for every family. Parents breathe easier knowing their kids in a safe, structured environment. Kids get to take a break from school books and play all day with friends. For many young adults it is their first job. Many local businesses are used for field trips. Everybody wins.

This year’s itinerary for the many camp options for Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County promises to engage, entertain, and let them go home with amazing memories.

“One of the great parts of this year’s camp calendar is planning theme weeks. Each week new activities, games and projects will revolve around a multitude of themes.” said Thomas John, director of education.

Where ‘Old School’ week will offer a field trip to Skate factory, an American Gladiators obstacle course and a Disco Dance party, ‘Party in the USA’ week will take the campers to Rush Trampoline Park, making red, white & blue cookies, and a patriotic scavenger hunt. The rest of the theme weeks are Disney week, Water week, Around the World week, Everyday Heroes week, Goin’ Green week, and St. Lucie’s Got Talent featuring skits, performances, improve and more.

This year’s all-day camps take place at two school locations, Manatee Academy and Windmill Point Elementary from June 10 through August 2. Other locations with limited hours are Floresta Elementary, Forest Grove Middle School, Lakewood Park Elementary and Mariposa Elementary.

Early sign up also offers perks such as referrals to earn free time for your campers and entries to win a Disney 4-Pak.

“A recent survey we did shows us that there are many kids are home alone while their parents are at work. Kids are naturally curious and the odds are that eventually they will get hurt or in trouble when left with no supervision. It seems like a no brainer to give your kids amazing memories and know they are safe.” said Will Armstead, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County.
