The Kinected is a four piece band who’s fresh and unique sound can be defined as a cohesive blend of pop, electro and indie rock. The music is a recipe of rhythmical guitar with bass grooves that roll over hot beats. Catchy melodic hooks are delivered through smooth yet strong vocals. The lyrics are relatable and interestingly thought provoking. On a dynamically softer level, The Kinected’s musical approach creates soulful acoustic ballads. Performing live, they improvise and expand on album cuts which keeps the energy on the dance floor and the crowd emotionally engaged.

Virtual Job Fair - Online Event

Date: Thursday April 26, 2018
Time: 10:00 am - 8:00 pm
Location: Career Showcase
Address: West Palm Beach, FL
Price: $0
Category: Other
In a world where green practices are increasingly needed and implemented, a Virtual Job Fair saves travel and other costs, while effectively allowing employers and job candidates to meet and interact. Career Showcase of Florida is hosting an online Job Fair on Thursday, April 26th, from 10 AM to 8 PM. There will be over 30 companies participating, seeking talent for various positions.

Steve Edwards, VP of Career Showcase, Florida Division, shares the highlights of this event. Were super excited to offer this Virtual Job Fair to Florida job seekers. The primary positions at this event are sales, account managers, business development, sales leadership, marketing, management training and many more. Candidates will have the opportunity to watch a company video of what the company does, what they are hiring for and why a person should work with them. They will also be able to view all open positions and chat live with a recruiter for an online interview. We are combining a job board and job fair that can be accessed from the comfort of your laptop/cell phone or tablet.

While the typical job applicant has to mail or submit resumes and applications, then wait for a response, the Virtual Job Fair gives applicants direct, immediate interaction with potential employers. The Career Showcase Virtual Job Fair is designed to help candidates who: Have difficulty making it to physical on-site job fairs; Need to be discreet about their job search/ are still employed; Are located in other states but interested in relocating to Florida.

We have a track record of holding highly successful Job Fairs at hotels and conference centers up and down the East Coast, Edwards explains. And we will continue to do so. But in a high-tech world, it just makes sense to offer the Virtual Job Fairs as well. We intend to continue providing both types of events, well into the future, he finishes.
The companys mission is to connect candidates searching for a new career with companies that are looking for the best talent the market has to offer. They help their clients to staff their organizations by partnering with them to attract and obtain good candidates for open positions.

Job seekers interested in attending the Virtual Job Fair in either state should visit careershowcase.com and click on the red Virtual Events tab at the top of the screen.

Story Time in the Gallery: Fun for the Youngest Readers

Story Time in the Gallery Martin County
Date: Event occurs the last Thursday of every month.
Time: 10:00 am - 10:30 am
Location: Court House Cultural Center
Address: 80 S.E. Ocean Boulevard, Stuart
Category: Arts / Exhibits
You’re never too young to learn to love the arts!
The Arts Council of Martin County has worked to enhance and elevate arts education to residents of all ages since its founding in 1980.
This year, the Council launched a program geared toward the youngest demographic of our community: preschoolers.
Story Time in the Gallery is made possible by PNC Bank’s Arts Alive program, and will offer art-themed story time geared preschool children and their families on the last Thursday of each month
Story time at the Court House Cultural Center will last from 10-10:30 a.m., since this is the usual attention span of a toddler. Volunteer readers from Bridges Montessori, The Pine School and PNC Bank- among others - will select books that broadly celebrate the arts in some way.
Selections may involve a beautifully illustrated storybook with the reader explaining the medium used or it could be a ‘learn to count’ book using Van Gogh’s sunflowers. One volunteer plans to discuss the color wheel using books about rainbows.
Some readers will be dressing up: the first plans to dress up as an artist and the Treasure Coast Cosplayers will be in costume; however attire is optional.
Any adult accompanying the child will remain for the duration of the program and families are encouraged to linger, mingle, and enjoy the exhibit after the Story Time in the Gallery presentation in an effort to add to the sense of community that is centered around the arts.
Story Time Programs plays a significant role in the Arts Council’s vision of enhancing arts education and fostering appreciation of the arts to residents of every age. There is no cost for these special mornings and, although geared towards preschoolers, accompanied children of any age are welcome.
Don’t miss any of the exciting monthly presentations of Story Time Programs, all starting at 10 a.m. on the last Thursday of the month.

Concealed Weapons Classes

Concealed Weapons Classes Okeechobee County
Date: Event occurs every Thursday of every month.
Time: 6:00 pm
Location: Center Mass Gun Range
Address: 1934 Center St, Okeechobee, Florida 34974
Category: Educational
We will be offering our concealed weapons class on Thursdays from 6pm to 9pm and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.

The price of the class is $49 which includes the class, use of simulation systems, gun rental, ammunition and range time.

If you wish to use your own firearm for the shooting portion, please leave it in your car. DO NOT bring it into the classroom with you. If you do not want to leave it in your car, we have personal safes you can use in our facility.

You will learn Florida Statutes on where and how to carry a firearm and some case law. You will also learn the various action types and how to use each action type to familiarize yourself with firearms.

The class is approximately 2 hours long, with extra time to fire a few live rounds down range.

We will have the ability to signup online in the near future, but for now you will need to come to the range and process your fee in advance in order to reserve your space. Classes are limited to 15 people so we can give proper attention to everyone and answer all your questions.

Call filled up? No need to worry. We will be having 2-3 classes per week on week nights and weekends. Have a small group and want a private class? Let us know. We can accommodate.

There is NO test, you simply need to bring yourself and pay attention to the instructors. Once the class is completed, you will be issued a certificate of completion which you can take to the local driver's license agency and apply for your concealed weapons permit. You must be 21 years of age or older to take this class and be a Florida resident.

We strongly recommend that you purchase the easy to ready book on concealed carry, written by a Florida Attorney in plain English. This is not a required purchase but is a "must have" and explains the laws in detail along with case law samples.

We also offer private lessons for $30 per hour which also includes range time. This is a good way for new shooters to learn how to properly use their firearm and understand how to get on target.

For the past 32 years, The Arts Council has presented the prestigious Marvin S. Cone Annual High School Juried Art Show. This exhibit and awards presented recognize the artistic talents of local high school students.

Established in 1987, the Marvin S. Cone Annual High School Juried Art Show honors its founder and his enthusiasm for young people, the arts, and his timeless effort in making the event what it is today. Mr. Cone was a local writer, poet, art collector, entrepreneur, and educator. Inspired by the creativity of art students in Martin County, he encouraged them to pursue even greater achievements by transforming the annual high school art exhibit into an event that truly recognized student's artistic accomplishments.

The exhibit will be at the Court House Cultural Center Gallery April 19 through May 25. Hours are Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. -2 p.m.

Awards will be presented at the Awards Reception on Wednesday, May 2 from 5:30-7pm for the Best of Show, as well as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each of five mediums: sculpture, drawing, photography/digital prints, painting, and mixed media. A unique component of the High School Juried Art show is the awarding of Purchase Awards. Purchase awards often represent the first sale of art that the emerging student artists can claim in what may inspire a future career choice

Judges will be Marshall Adams, executive director or A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery and nationally-known wildlife artist, Guy Coheleach. Exhibit chair will once again be Tom Prestopnik.

Rain: A History for Stormy Times

A History for Stormy Times St. Lucie County
Date: Friday April 27, 2018
Time: 2:00 pm
Location: A. E. Backus Museum & Gallery
Address: 500 N Indian River Dr, Fort Pierce, Florida 34950
Category: Arts / Exhibits
An engaging natural and cultural tour of RAIN, from its key roles in civilization, religion, and art; to the peculiar history of the world’s first raincoat; to the rain obsessions of our “Founding Forecaster,” Thomas Jefferson – all building to the uncharted rains of climate change. We’ll also take a look at how many communities are coming to live differently with rain — as with all water, part of a new water ethic in America. Rain connects us in all sorts of ways – as profound as prayer and art, as practical as economics, as genuine as an exchange between strangers on a stormy day. Too much and not enough, rain is a shared experience, and one of the ways climate change can become a conversation rather than a confrontation.

Bring the family to have dinner and help support the UP Center. Dinner is served at 5:30 and all ages are welcome.
Volunteering can teach
A sense of responsibility. Kids and teens learn what it means to make and keep a commitment. They learn how to be on time for a job, do their best, and be proud of the results. They also learn that, ultimately, we're all responsible for the well being of our communities.
That one person can make a difference. A wonderful, empowering message for kids is that they're important enough to have an impact on someone or something else.
The benefit of sacrifice. By giving up a toy to a less fortunate child, a child learns that sometimes it's good to sacrifice and that there are important things besides ourselves and our immediate needs.
Tolerance. Working in community service can bring kids and teens in touch with people of different backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, ages, and education and income levels. They'll learn that even the most diverse individuals can be united by common values.
Job skills. Community service can help young people decide on their future careers. Are they interested in the medical field? Hospitals and clinics often have teenage volunteer programs. Do they love politics? Kids can work on the real campaigns of local political candidates. Learning to work as a team member, taking on leadership roles, setting project goals ... these are all skills that can be gained by volunteering and will serve kids well in any future career.
How to fill idle time wisely. If kids aren't involved in traditional after school activities, community service can be a wonderful alternative.

Sponsors include Fox, Wackeen, Dungey, Beard, Bush, Goldman, Waters, Robison, van Vonno, and McCluskey L.L.P.; Publix Super Market Charities, Palm City Art & Frame, Women Supporting the Arts, and Sailfish Commercial Realty.

The Arts Council is the designated local arts agency for Martin County and provides services to visual and performing artists, arts organizations, students and the public. It strives to instill a passion for- and participation in - the arts. For more, call 772-287-6676 or visit MartinArts.org.
