Since retiring to Port St. Lucie nine years ago, she has won numerous ribbons in watercolor art shows. Maureen’s favorite subjects are water view landscapes.

· Delia Korman: A native New Yorker, Korman won her first awards for her designs and sketches of women’s apparel before she moved to Port St. Lucie more than 20 years ago. She began studying abstract art under Lea Shaw about 10 years ago and she has not been able to put her paint brush down since. She has exhibited her work at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center, Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens, the PNC Bank and the Morningside Library.

· Floyd Markowitz: Markowitz has been drawing since he was 4 years old. He studied in the Fine Arts Program at Montgomery College and the University of Maryland. Since moving to Florida in 1997, he’s been active in the Port St. Lucie art community as a member of Port St. Lucie Art League. His work has been recognized along the Treasure Coast, including work selected as part the Port St. Lucie beautification program wrapping Utility Boxes along the Cross Town Expressway.

· Fran Sine: Sine enjoys painting people and drawing figures in a variety of settings. With her preferred medium as acrylic, she incorporates architecture and nature into many of her compositions. Her art has been shown in St. Andrews Art Show and the Port St. Lucie Civic Center, and she has received awards for her work.

· Joe Young: A permanent resident of St. Lucie County since March 2005, Young is inspired by the beauty of nature. He wants to give the viewer the feeling of being there. Painting somewhere between realism and impressionism he wants the viewers’ mind to blend the image together and interpret what they see.

Address: 350 U.S. Highway 1 Vero Beach

McKee’s Ocean Sole Exhibition will be on display throughout the Garden from November 1, 2019 through May 31, 2020. This exhibition features 40 brightly colored, whimsical hand-crafted marine species sculptures made from recycled flip flops that have washed upon the shores of Africa and were created by artisans from Ocean Sole located in Kenya.

The story of each sculpture begins as a flip flop on someone’s feet, which is later discarded and ultimately ends up in our earth’s waterways, landfills and oceans. The artists collect, clean, compress and carve it into beautiful art. The sculptures are made from upcycled EVA rubber flip flops, contact adhesive glue, and in some of the larger sculptures, recycled Styrofoam and wire.

Ocean Sole’s mission is to turn flip flop pollution into inspiring art to promote conservation and create employment. Their focus is 100% on conservation entrepreneurship. Ocean Sole positively impacts over 1,000 Kenyans through the collection of flip flops and direct employment. Their masterpieces create employment for a country that has 40% unemployment, but also sends a message about how we can help our planet, our oceans and people. Revenue generated from the sale of these sculptures helps clean up the beaches, provide vocational and educational programs to Kenyans, and supports conservation efforts. Over 80% of land waste ends up in our seas, impacting both human and marine life. Recycling efforts on the East African coast have made significant improvements to the environment and the quality of life within the areas which Ocean Sole operates and impacts.

Sunday, January 26, at 4:00pm will include a joint performance with Vero Beach High School Orchestral students and the Festival Artists. The concert will end with a community sight-reading party, where audience members who play string or wind instruments can bring their instrument to join in with the Festival Artists and students on a large ensemble piece.

Through curated interactive lectures for the entire community, educational seminars for talented young students, a weekend amateur chamber music intensive workshop, and intimate performances by internationally acclaimed artists, ChamberFest seeks to break down the formal barriers between artists and amateurs and encourages a discussion about the interconnectedness of music with the world-at-large.
Additionally, after the final concert on Sunday, the church will be hosting an Opening Reception for the 3rd Anniversary Art Show in the Galleries at First Pres (throughout campus) at 5pm. Light refreshments will be provided. The reception will be followed by The Gainesville Brass Quintet in concert at 6pm in the sanctuary. A suggested donation of $10 will be accepted for the concert.

______________________________________________
This week's dharma talk is: SPACIOUSNESS: THE GRANDNESS THAT IS EVERYWHERE

"There is a presence, a silence, a stillness. It is simply here in you, with you. It is the fragrance of your own self. There is nothing to do about this, it is naturally present. This fragrance of peace, this spaciousness, it is the fragrance of your own being." --- Mooji

Lets explore the wonder and simplicity of nothingness; connect with the nothingness of everything. Together we will attempt to understand this concept of empty spaciousness in a real way so we can relax into it and just be.

Ticket to the Moon. Indian River County
Date: Wednesday January 22, 2020
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center
Category: Concert / Live Music
Audiences can expect an explosion of phenomenal sounds with this caliber of multi- instrumentalists on guitars, vocals, keyboard and multiple string players; including five women; one each on drums, cello, percussion, violin and four of them as vocalists….when Ticket to the Moon….a Trip through the Music of Electric Light Orchestra performs from the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center stage on Wednesday, January 22 at 7 p.m.
It took well-known musician Reggie Fecteau, lead vocalist/guitarist and Owner/Manager of Ticket to the Moon, eight months to assemble the best, highly seasoned musicians around for his new hit phenomenon of an orchestra. The original ELO were billed in the United States as "the English guys with the big fiddles"; Ticket to the Moon is no different. Audiences will be standing, singing and dancing to many of their favorites including ”Evil Woman” , “Strange Magic”, “Telephone Line”, “Livin’ Thing”,“Don’t Bring Me Down” and “Can’t Get it Out of My Head”. · Maureen Joyce: A Massachusetts native, Joyce began painting as an outlet while her children grew up. She was mentored by her uncle and well known Rockport, MA artist Martin Ahearn.

Category: Arts / Exhibits

The Paula A. Lewis Branch Library kicks off the 2020 ArtSpace program featuring artwork by five local residents on display now through March 28.

· Maureen Joyce: A Massachusetts native, Joyce began painting as an outlet while her children grew up. She was mentored by her uncle and well known Rockport, MA artist Martin Ahearn.

Category: Arts / Exhibits

Public performances are Saturday, January 25, and Sunday, January 26, both at 4:00pm in the sanctuary at 520 Royal Palm Boulevard. All performances are free to the community and a $10 donation is suggested to benefit the Vero Beach High School Orchestral program.
ChamberFest is an annual chamber music festival that integrates world-class chamber music performances with engaging hands-on workshops and thought-provoking discussions. This year the festival artists hail from the US, Canada, Israel and Germany, and are recipients of numerous coveted awards from international organizations such as the Primrose International Viola Competition, the Aviv Cello Competition, Concert Artists Guild, Chamber Music America and the ProMusica Foundation.
The performance on Saturday, January 25, at 4:00pm features chamber music collaborations by professional Festival Artists including Artistic Director Jessica Tong, Molly Carr, Oded Hadar, Amadi Azikiwe and Tobias Werner.
Local musicians who are interested in becoming participants in the Adult Amateur Weekend workshop may contact Jessica Tong at info@musicbeyondthechamber.org, or call (832) 372-3286. The participant registration fee is $220.

She has exhibited her work at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center, Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens, the PNC Bank and the Morningside Library.
