Featured local artists include Jean Archibald, Pamela Schwartz, and Paul Williams. Tours will be available with an opportunity to meet the artists, and light refreshments will be served. This event is free to the community. The works will be on display from April 14 through June 1, 2019.
Jean Archibald has been drawing and painting since she was a child. Her work in graphite pencil led her to wonder what her work would look like in color. Her realistic watercolor paintings depict beautiful landscapes, old barns, dilapidated houses and boats. Of her work, she said, Being a self-taught artist and having had no formal instruction, my love of watercolor painting has brought me to a level that brings joy to my heart and happiness to the people who love the same and have acquired my works. Mrs. Archibald is now an instructor at the Sebastian River Art Club and teaches watercolor classes on the first and third Tuesday of each month. For more information on her classes, contact her at keel84@aol.com or at (321) 725-1537.
Pamela Schwartz is best known for her thought-provoking work in exploring human emotion using acrylic and glazing techniques on canvas. Schwartz said, "All of humanity longs to discover their purpose in this life. My purpose is to help you examine yours. Pamela received her art degree from Humboldt State University in California. She is a mother of three and teaches third grade at Imagine South Vero.
Paul Williams received his Bachelors Degree in Art Education from Pennsylvania State University. After graduation, he trained in interior design at the Philadelphia College of Art. He worked as a design associate for several architectural firms in Delaware for twenty years before becoming Design Director for American Design Associates in Baltimore. Upon his retirement to Vero Beach in 1997, Paul took up painting seriously. He took many watercolor classes throughout the years at the Vero Beach Museum of Art. Recently, he began using acrylics as well. Williams most recently won first prize in the watercolor category of the Vero Beach Art Clubs annual Art by the Sea exhibition competition. Paul says, very simply, If I like what I see, Ill paint it.
The Galleries at First Pres feature a wide variety of works by local artists, on rotation quarterly throughout the year. The Galleries are located throughout the campus of First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard, Vero Beach; they are open for viewing from 12pm to 3pm, Monday through Thursday. Guided tours are available Wednesdays between 3pm and 5pm. Admission is free and open to the community.

Seventeen years later, we have grown into a comprehensive assistance center, opening our 5,000 sq. ft. outreach facility six days a week, addressing the complex needs of homeless and poor living right here in our own community. Our purpose is to offer life-changing possibilities to residents in crisis – offering emergency hunger relief, clothing, counseling, support groups, hygiene items, showers, mail and telephone services, benefit referrals, cold weather refuge, and so much more.

If you can't make it on one of the designated days or just don't need an oil change at that time, no worries. We've got you covered. Simply purchase one of our oil change gift certificates. There are 20 gifts certificates for each sponsored non-profit. You can buy one for each non-profit if you're feeling generous. Or multiple certificates for the same non-profit. Note, however, that the gift certificates expire 6 months after purchase.

Gift certificates are available for Standard Oil Changes ($25) or Synthetic Oil Changes ($70).

Location: First Presbyterian Church
Address: 520 Royal Palm Boulevard

An opening reception for Scenic Spring at the Galleries at First Pres will be held Sunday, April 14, 2019, from 12:30pm to 3:00pm, at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard, Vero Beach.

An opening reception for Scenic Spring at the Galleries at First Pres will be held Sunday, April 14, 2019, from 12:30pm to 3:00pm, at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard, Vero Beach.

The Weight Band featuring members of The Band and The Levon Helm Band

Martin County
Date: Saturday April 20, 2019
Time: 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Location: The Lyric Theatre
Address: 59 SW Flagler Avenue
Price: 45
Category: Concert / Live Music
The Band was one of the most important roots rock groups of the 1960s. It included Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel and Robbie Robertson. The group, which began in Canada and then migrated to the U.S., was the subject of a Martin Scorsese documentary, The Last Waltz. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and in 2004, Rolling Stone ranked then 50 on the list of 100 greatest artists. Their song The Weight was ranked 41st on the magazines list of the 500 greatest songs. They have a proud history.

Levon Helm died in 2012 after a lengthy battle with throat cancer that kept him from performing for many years. In 2013, in the Woodstock barn Levon Helm loved, Jim Weider and Randy Ciarlante, both former member of The Band, performed Songs of the Band with founder Garth Hudson, Jimmy Vivino and Byron Isaacs.

The experience inspired Weider, Ciarlante and Isaacs to carry on The Bands legacy and they began performing fan favorites. They invited Brian Mitchell and later added Albert Rogers, Michael Bram and Matt Zeiner to join them. After several years of touring, they released an album of original material, World Gone Mad, that captures The Bands musical tradition but is put together for todays vibrant Americana base. The album, released in February, 2018, is an Americana/Roots Rock tribute to the music and the Woodstock sound.

Jim Weider, who plays guitar, mandolin and vocals, is a former member of The Band, and from 1985-2000, replaced Robbie Robertson as lead guitarist and song writer. He toured with Levon Helm, Garth Hudson and Rich Danko for 5 years and is also a member of Levon Helms Midnight Ramble Band and his own group, ProJECT PERCoLAToR.

Michael Bram, on drums and vocals, most recently toured with Jason Mraz. His connection to The Band comes by way of the extended community who played at Levon Helms studio in Woodstock, where he was the drummer for many years in the Chris OLeary Band, an offshoot of Levons band The Barnburners.

Brian Mitchell, on keyboard and vocals, is a member of the Midnight Ramble Band and has recorded with Bob Dylan, Al Green and B.B. King.

Matt Zeiner, on keyboard and vocals, began his career with Hartfords Street temperature Band and then hit the road with Matt Guitar Murphy of Blues Brothers fame. He toured extensively with Dickie Betts, a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band and over the years, he has performed with, produced, or written for Jeff Pevar, Melvin Sparks, Zach Deputy, Ryan Monbleau and others.

Albert Rogers plays bass and shares vocal duties as a member of The Weight Band. Hes shared the stage with Levon Helm and Garth Hudson in the Jim Weider Band and has performed with Sid McGinnis, Hubert Sumlin, Jimmy Vivino and Albert Lee.

Replicating the music of the Band would be a tall order, but interpreting it is an art. The songs The Band created have pleased audiences for decades, and The Weight Band has found a way to honor the legacy while creating its own sound and by original works that complement that legacy.

Address: 6574 SE Federal Hwy, Stuart, Florida 34997

Change Oil, Change Lives (a registered trademark of Paradise Tire & Service), is an annual fundraiser for non-profit organizations in the Treasure Coast. The fundraiser is sponsored by Paradise Tire & Service. Each month Paradise Tire sponsors a different non-profit. During the month two days are dedicated to the sponsored non-profit. All proceeds from oil changes sold on those days are donated to the non-profit.
