City of Port St. Lucie wins multiple digital marketing, communications awards

The City of Port St. Lucie this week won three international AVA Awards and one Honorable Mention for excellence in digital communication in 2017.

AVA Digital Awards is an international competition that recognizes outstanding work by creative professionals involved in the concept, direction, design and production of media that is part of the evolution of digital communication. 

These awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. From about 2,500 entries, Port St. Lucie was selected in four categories.

The City was awarded a Platinum Award for an integrated digital marketing campaign its staff developed for the Neighborhood Improvement and Community Engagement (NICE) Program.  This campaign included promotion of the program through the development of a webpage, logo and branding, social media, public information meetings, virtual town hall meeting, videos, digital community surveys and traditional media coverage. Port St. Lucie’s City Manager’s Bi-Weekly Report, a twice monthly digital magazine, also received a Platinum Award for digital publication. This informative publication contains updates from various City departments in an easy-to-read and visually appealing format.  Past editions can be found at http://www.cityofpsl.com/bi-weekly.

The City also received a Gold Award for crisis communications for its use of online and digital tools to communicate to the public during Hurricane Irma in real-time. Those included a dedicated Hurricane Irma webpage, social media posts, email blasts and the use of video to relay both crucial information and to tell human-interest stories.

Port St. Lucie earned an Honorable Mention for the City’s newly redesigned website. In November 2017, the City soft launched the new website. The redesign and navigation was based on extensive research and analytics on use preference, how well it would serve mobile users, comply with accessibility standards and ease of navigation.

The AMCP is an international organization that consists of several thousand production, marketing, communications, advertising, public relations and freelance professionals. In the past, 15 percent of entries won Platinum, about 20 percent won a Gold Award and 10 percent received Honorable Mentions.
