St. Lucie County
Date: Saturday September 2, 2017 through Saturday September 30, 2017.
Time: Times Vary
Location: The Susan Broom Kilmer Branch of the St. Lucie County Library System
Address: 101 Melody Lane
Category: Arts / Exhibits
The Susan Broom Kilmer Branch Library’s ArtSpace will feature works by artist Martha Purdy on display now through Sept. 30.
Purdy came to Florida from Mexico 18 years ago. She currently lives in Fort Pierce, cleaning houses for a living, and studying for her U.S. Citizenship exam. Purdy has always liked to draw, and in thinking about a new art project realized that many people who come to the United States don't know much about its history. She decided to draw individual portraits of each of the 45 presidents so everyone can see what they looked like. While she plans to continue drawing presidents, she is thinking about her next project which she said will be painting animals and flowers in oil on glass surfaces.
The Susan Broom Kilmer (formerly Fort Pierce) Branch Library is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., Wednesdays from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Fridays from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Residents interested in displaying their artwork as part of the Fort Pierce Library’s non-commercial ArtSpace area should contact Librarian Shelia Small at 772-462-2199 or smalls@stlucieco.org. This is not a commercial venue. Artwork is displayed for enjoyment purposes only.

A Celebration of the Sun, Sea, Sky and Earth

Our physical body does not require "pain for gain" exercises which encourage our fright or flight response and compress the muscles, tighten tendons, stiffen joints and acidify the blood and tissues with excess lactic acid, carbon dioxide and other metabolic waste. After age 30 this type of exercises gradually becomes more harmful.

"The Lady with All the Answers" takes place late on a 1975 night in columnist Ann Landers' Chicago apartment, where an ironic twist of events confronts her with a looming deadline for a column dealing with a new kind of heartbreak: her own. As she shares her struggles to complete the column with us, we learn as much about ourselves as we do about the wise, funny, no-nonsense woman whose daily dialogue with America helped shape the social and sexual landscapes of the last half-century. This delightful comedy with heart that the L.A. Times critic called "...engaging from beginning to end."

Address: 2020 San Juan Ave, Vero Beach, FL 32960

"The Lady with All the Answers" takes place late on a 1975 night in columnist Ann Landers' Chicago apartment, where an ironic twist of events confronts her with a looming deadline for a column dealing with a new kind of heartbreak: her own. As she shares her struggles to complete the column with us, we learn as much about ourselves as we do about the wise, funny, no-nonsense woman whose daily dialogue with America helped shape the social and sexual landscapes of the last half-century. This delightful comedy with heart that the L.A. Times critic called "...engaging from beginning to end."

Kilmer Library’s ArtSpace Features Martha Purdy for September
