Hops Against Hunger

Hops Against Hunger Treasure Coast Food Bank
Date: Thursday September 19, 2019 through Saturday September 21, 2019.
Time: Times Vary
Location: Various Locations - Refer to Description
Category: Community
The three-year-old event that takes place during Hunger Action Month and benefits Treasure Coast Food Bank now will include locations in Martin and St. Lucie counties as well as the Vero Beach venues where it began. Each participating location will vie to see which can bring in the most food and dollars for Treasure Coast Food Bank.

The coalition of breweries, restaurants and good-hearted beer fans come together at their favorite watering holes to help solve hunger along the Treasure Coast. Each person who brings in a minimum of 5 cans will receive a complementary pint – or Voodoo bucket in the case of Waldo’s. Patrons also can purchase raffle tickets to win prizes donated by each venue.

“This is a really fun way to take action in the fight against hunger,” said Judith Cruz, President and CEO of Treasure Coast Food Bank. “It’s a competition, but the true winners are all those who struggle with hunger in our community.”

It kicks off September 19 through 21 when Vero Beach venues Walking Tree Brewery, Kilted Mermaid, and Waldo’s host the event. Visit Walking Tree on Thursday, Sept. 19 from 5 to 9 p.m., Kilted Mermaid on Friday, Sept. 20 from 6-10 p.m., and Waldo’s on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 1-4 p.m.
The following

Thursday, Sept. 26, the competition moves to Sailfish Brewing Company in Fort Pierce from 7 to 9 p.m. That evening, winners will be announced in the Cans for a Cause competition taking place among businesses in Downtown Fort Pierce. Tour the area to see each can sculpture created to help fight hunger. All the cans from each sculpture will be donated to Treasure Coast Food Bank.

The final Hops Against Hunger event takes place in Jensen Beach on Friday, Sept. 27 from 5-9 p.m. Head to the popular waterfront Conchy Joe’s Seafood Restaurant and Bar for one last night of swapping food for brews.
