Address: 4200 Johnston Road, Fort Pierce, FL, 34951

Scotty was raised in Vero Beach, Fla., with bare feet in the ocean and a fishing line in a bass lake. “It was, an all-American barefoot-boy kind of life,” he says. Emerick played out for the first time at the local Moose Lodge, when he was only 12 years old. By the time he was about 15, he became tired of playing covers by others and began trying to write his own songs. Shortly after graduating High School he headed to Nashville, and the rest, as they say, is history, with number one hits written for mega star and friend Toby Keith, like: Beer for My Horses, I Love This Bar, I’m Just Talking About Tonight, As Good As I Once Was, and Whisky Girl. In addition, he’s written hits for many other country superstars like: Sawyer Brown, Willie Nelson, George Strait, Ronnie Milsap, Joe Nichols, Billy Currington and his friend Kenny Chesney, with timeless tunes like: Troubador, Like My Dog, Boats, Soul of a Sailor, Keys in the Conch Shell, I Don’t Believe in Goodbye, and many many more. Scotty is not only a great songwriter, he is an accomplished singer too with several singles and albums to his credit, and often performing with Toby on tour.

The gates open at 5:30 pm with dinner available until 7:00pm featuring Creative Chef and Reds Kitchen Food Trucks with delicious American and locally inspired cuisine. Food is not included in the ticket price. Opening for Scotty will be local area country great Bruce Hunter, lead singer of Flat Natural Band at 5:30pm and Mr. Emerick taking the stage at 7pm. Sorry, absolutely no tailgating allowed at the winery.

2nd Annual Florida Cigar Box Guitar Festival

2nd Annual Florida

Time: 11:00 pm
Date: Saturday February 2, 2019
Location: Summer Crush Vineyard and Winery
Address: 4200 Johnston Road, Fort Pierce, FL, 34951
Category: Festival
Summer Crush Winery, widely known for their unique venue and diverse music scene, is proud to announce the 2nd Annual FLORIDA CIGAR BOX GUITAR FESTIVAL Februray 2nd 2019 from 11-5pm. The day will include 3 of the nations premier Cigar Box Guitar acts; Ben Prestage, Travis Bowlin, and the Steve Arvey band, well as Cigar Box instrument vendors and a free workshop with Steve Arvey!
So what is a Cigar Box Guitar? Simply put Cigar Box instruments are literally made with old cigar boxes, but it goes deeper than that. The first trace of such instruments dates back to 1840-1860, when cigar manufacturers started using smaller boxes to ship about 20-50 cigars instead of the previous larger crates that shipped hundreds. In addition to guitars, cigar boxes were turned into all varieties of stringed instruments including fiddles, mandolins, basses (and their cousin the Diddly Bow), by handy folks who most often could not afford a manufactured instrument. The cigar box guitar was integral in the rise of jug band music and even more importantly - the blues. The great depression saw a resurgence in the home building of these instruments, especially in the rural south, followed by a waning with the introduction of cheaper mass produced instruments.
Recently, however, there has been a revival of interest in Cigar Box instruments, called the Great Guitar Box Revolution. It has resulted in a growing number of talent musicians, especial those wanting to play the Delta Blues in its purest form, as well as home builders, and primitive luthiers.
Cigar Box Festivals have become popular nationwide, with some of the biggest being in the Ozarks, Huntsville Alabama, York Pennsylvania, and Clarkdale Mississippi! Now Summer Crush is proud to be added to that map with the Florida Cigar Box Festival right here on the Treasure Coast. The days lineup includes the manager of the American Cigar Box Association, Steve Arvey, with his Steve Arvey Band, from Bradenton Florida. Steve is an accomplished blues musician, even having played the Crossroads Stage in Chicago and backing several Blues greats. He is also the director of the Florida Blues Festival in Bradenton. Steve will be leading a free afternoon workshop for those who wish to attend. There will be Cigar Box instrument vendors on hand too, so you can purchase one and get a lesson from one of the greats! www.stevearvey.com
From Nashville Tennessee comes Travis Bowlin. A native mid-westerner, Travis left for Nashville in 2012 and in 2014 released his first studio single, Bad, Bad Man; receiving radio air play on over 50 stations worldwide and performing it on Nashvilles NBC News & publications. Just a few months later, Travis had his national TV debut performing his original song Traveling Man on the TLC hit show 19 Kids & Counting. With hundreds of performances under his belt over the last 15 years, Travis Bowlin is looking forward to preforming at Summer Crush for the first time. http://www.travisbowlin.com
Also on stage will be Florida legend Ben Prestage. Ben, who was taught the blues by his grandfather, a Mississippi sharecropper, grew up in rural Florida and picked up the appreciation for the banjo from a wine making and bluegrass playing neighbor. Ben moved to Memphis as a busker (street performer) with these skills in his bag. Influenced by other buskers, Ben soon added drums and the diddley-bow to get the attention of the tippers. Bens unique style and seemingly impossible talent has earned him three consecutive years of top 4 finishes in the International Blues Challenge, as well as, being the only two time champion of the Lyon/Pitchford Award for Best Diddley-Bow Player, and being, "The Most Unique Performer" at "The Song- writers' Showcase of America! www.benprestagemusic.com
Travis Bowlin kicks the day off at 11 am, and Steve Arvey leads the workshop at 2:30-3:30pm. The artists rotate preforming throughout the day until 5pm. (11-12 and 2-3pm: Travis Bowlin. 12-1 and 4-5pm: Steve Arvey. 1-2 and 3-4: Ben Prestage). For great food, Creative Chef will be serving their delicious favorites. Food is not included in the ticket price. Summer Crush will have their popular beverages; Handcrafted Florida Wines, Wine Slushees, Sangria, and Wine based cocktails (like Margarita, Rum Punch, Bloody Mary, Sea Breeze & more) as well as over 30 local microbrew and select beers and ciders.

SIRSY is a ROCK & SOUL DUO with lots of pop sensibility & just the right amount of sass! Fronted by charismatic lead singer, Melanie who is also the band's drummer and plays a full kit standing up. Melanie plays bass parts on a keyboard with her drum stick and even throws in some mean flute solos. Rich Libutti plays a road worn and well loved Rickenbacker through a pedal board full of vintage effects. He also pays bass with his feet and tells super nerdy Star Wars jokes. SIRSY is known for passionate performances that often include lots of stories from the road, laughs, and dance parties. It's a good time! :) SIRSY plays 250+ shows per year nationally & has played with Grace Potter, Maroon 5, Cheap Trick, Train, and many more. Their music is featured on Showtime’s hit TV show “Shameless”

“The little band with the big sound.” – The Boston Globe

"SIRSY is NOT simply a two piece, they are a head scratching, WOW!..This is the complete package in a fun sized, rock and roll, smiling laughing, have a good time with your friends, band!” – SXSW Music Blog

“Highly talented, “edgy-feel-good”, and fun to watch... you gotta go see them.” – Houston Music Scene Blog

“Melanie Krahmer has one of the most powerful and flexible voices you will ever hear.” –Times Union, NY

“The guitar player is flawless and raw- clean enough to be enjoyed but edgy enough to make your grin. The lead singer/drummer is stunning” –SXSW Music Blog
