Ring a Ding Ding!
Article by Wendy Dwyer
Andy Williams used to sing, “It’s the holiday season, so whoop de doo, and dickory dock,” and that’s a pretty good description of how we feel at Fort Pierce Jazz and Blues Society when December rolls around on the Treasure Coast. After all, December means it’s time for our annual Ring-a-Ding Ding Holiday Fling with FDO Swing, and this year, it’s going to be better than ever!
Sunday, December 8th, beginning at 1 p.m., which is a little earlier than in past years, Al Hager will give the sign, and the 17-piece big band we like to call FDO (For Dancing Only) will fill the vineyard and sweeten the grapes at Summer Crush Winery on Angle Road in Fort Pierce with your favorite tunes for dancing. They’ll throw in a few classics to help get you into the holiday spirit, and the celebration of the season can officially begin.
All year long, members of Fort Pierce Jazz and Blues Society make it their mission to share live, professional music at venues throughout the Treasure Coast. In addition to providing live, affordable, professional music, the members also facilitate master classes, give lessons, mentor, and work with talented young musicians who want to learn more about their craft and how to become professional master musicians, too. As a result, we all enjoy great musical entertainment from seasoned pros who love what they do and want to give a gift back to the community that supports their efforts all year long.
Music is truly a gift in our lives, and if you’d like to support Fort Pierce Jazz and Blues Society’s efforts at helping provide the soundtrack to your life and its many wonderful memories, not consider becoming a member of this organization which provides live, professional entertainment, scholarships, classes, dancing, memories to last a lifetime, and loads of fun all year long? Or maybe you’d like to gift someone else with a membership during this holiday season? Either way, it’s inexpensive and easy to do by visiting www.jazzsociety.org, or calling (772) 460-JAZZ today.
