Nominations Open For 2018 Treasure Coast Trailblazer Award
This year marks the 2nd Annual Treasure Coast Trailblazer Awards, presented in coordination with the 10th Annual Treasure Coast Business Summit. These prestigious awards will be presented to four women along the Treasure Coast; one from each of the surrounding counties. The time to nominate your Trailblazer is NOW.
Created to evolve into a mentorship program; the Trailblazer Award was created by three women who feel it necessary to celebrate the women who have shaped the path in which they walk today, broken the glass ceiling and paved the way. Brain child Mindi Fetterman C.E.O. of The Inner Truth Project, Lynette Marraffa, owner of Traxx Entertainment and Dana Trabulsy, owner of All Things Treasure Coast understand that forging path is a lifelong journey.
Last year’s Trailblazers were: Kathy Post, owner of Post Insurance. 3rd generation FL native and recent recipient of St Lucie County United Way Community Angel Award. Kathy was also recognized by Florida Trend as a “Mover & Influencer” this year. She's also been named one of 40 'Elite Women in Insurance' by Insurance Business America. Gail Cavanaugh, recognized posthumously. Gail served for 32 years as Executive Vice President of the Treasure Coast Builders Association. Jane Rowley, blazing a trail for over 40 years on the Treasure Coast. Jane is past President of the St. Lucie County Hundred Club. Rachel Terlizzi, formerly of Martin Health System, now United Way of Martin County. She is a past Dancing with the Martin Stars cast member, raising money for the Healthy Start Coalition. An active member of the Junior League of Martin County, empowering women to build better communities. Sgt. Suzanne Woodward of the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office became supervisor of the STAR Team. She accepted the responsibility knowing expectations by Command Staff were high. Designed to fill the gaps between patrol and investigations, Woodward has been determined to showcase exactly what the team could do and become a bridge for the agency spanning community service and outreach, strengthening ties with the community. Kelly Owens, Okeechobee County Commissioner - District 5, formerly self-employed as a leadership development consultant. Commissioner Owens is committed to creating strong relationships in order to develop growth in Okeechobee County. She has volunteered on various boards including the Kiwanis Club, the Okeechobee Educational Foundation, and CenterState Bank Advisory Board. She also serves as a State Council Member for the Military Compact Commission.
There is no clear outline for a Trailblazer. Just like all women, the Trailblazer award takes on many shapes and sizes. However, amongst them all is one common thread: a Trailblazer leaves a path and footprint by which others successfully follow. If you know a woman, who deserves to be nominated as a Treasure Coast Trailblazer, we ask that you take the time to tell us about her. Once all nominees have been submitted, an anonymous selection committee will choose the winners by county.
Nominations for the 2018 Trailblazer Award will be accepted until Saturday, April 28th, and can be made via the Treasure Coast Business Summit website – www.tcbizsummit.com.
