St. Lucie Habitat for Humanity Hosts Two Groundbreakings
Two recently held Habitat groundbreakings have kicked off the affordable homeownership journey for a couple of local St. Lucie County families. In early 2018, the City of Port St. Lucie allocated seven, city-owned vacant lots to St. Lucie Habitat for Humanity (SLHfH) for affordable home building. This partnership with the City of Port St. Lucie goes a long way in creating affordable home ownership opportunities in Port St. Lucie. Construction is now underway at 141 NE Surfside Avenue, PSL, and 1573 SE Faculty Court, PSL.
Funding for the construction of the home at 141 NE Surfside Avenue was provided by St. Lucie Battery & Tire, through the sale of Tiny Home raffle tickets, and grants from Publix Super Markets Charities, and Wells Fargo Bank. Once completed, volunteers from St. Lucie Battery & Tire, local Publix stores, Wells Fargo Bank, and the local faith community, will have truly made this home a labor of love. This home is St. Lucie Habitat’s Apostles Build project and area congregations are invited to serve by partnering with St. Lucie Habitat, by volunteering at the jobsite.
The home at 1573 SE Faculty Court is funded by a Community Contribution Tax Credit Program sponsorship provided by Sunrise Ford, a grant from Walmart Distribution Center #7038, and sponsorships from Peter W. Busch Foundation, and Inner Truth Project. This St. Lucie Habitat Women Build 2019 project is made possible by the support of All Things Treasure Coast, and women throughout St. Lucie County are invited to channel their inner Rosie the Riveter, and join us through volunteering and fundraising.
Building affordable homes in St. Lucie County would not be possible without the generosity of our community. St. Lucie Habitat for Humanity is grateful for community support through corporate sponsorships, in-kind donations, and volunteering.
