On Thursday July 27th, The Tin Roof Bar and Grill will be celebrating the First Annual Back the Blue Party. The party comes on the heels of the controversial termination of Sgt. Brian MacNaught and officer Keith Holmes from the Fort Pierce Police Department. "This event is not a protest", said Tin Roof owner Jaclyn Wheaton. "Our hopes are that this can be a way for our community to come together, support one another and appreciate all that law enforcement does to keep us safe by putting their lives on the line every day."
The event which will be held at The Tin Roof, located at the corner of Jenkins Road and Orange Avenue in Fort Pierce will kick off at 7:00pm when local county artists Tom Jackson and Ricky Hughes a.k.a. The Law Dawgs pick up their guitars. There will also be a car show, and lots of giveaways.
Supporters of the event include: Jetson's TV and appliance, who have donated a TV to raffle. St. Lucie Battery and Tire, along with Island Party Rental have donated the tent. Centerstate Bank has donated gift cards for giveaways, as have several other local businesses. Raffle tickets will be sold to support the Police Athletic League, an organization that helps our youth stay safe and off the streets. Also, since kids will be going back to school in a few short weeks, anyone who donates school supplies will be automatically entered to win one of the may prizes.
"We want folks to just come out and enjoy a nice summer evening listening to great music with their friends and appreciate all of the good people looking after us." Says Wheaton
