St. Lucie Battery and Tire Partners With Habitat For Humanity
The wheels of philanthropy have steady and reliable traction at St. Lucie Battery & Tire Complete Car Care Centers. In addition to financial sponsorship of a Port St. Lucie Habitat for Humanity home, nearly 20 employees recently gave up their Saturday to install sod and mulch, plant shrubs and provide a hand wherever needed.
Soon to be owners of the home, Abel & Amaryllis Rosario, are required to invest sweat equity into the project and therefore worked alongside the volunteers. Abel Rosario shared his journey. “In 2007, I was living in Puerto Rico when my nine- year- old daughter Lynette fell into a coma,” he said. “I moved to Florida and left it all behind so she could receive proper treatment.”
Eight years later, after living in other parts of the state and spending time at Ronald McDonald House, Rosario found himself renting a small apartment in Port St. Lucie with nothing but an upside-down bucket on which to sit. “I lost everything and then my pastor, a Habitat homeowner, introduced me to the organization and they welcomed me with open arms.”
Rosario, who will be presented the keys to his new home during October said, “I want to thank Habitat and St. Lucie Battery & Tire for being a part of the restoration of my family and giving us this opportunity for a new beginning!”
The Rosario’s and their two sons plan to get a lot of mileage out of their new address. And, thanks to the sponsorship of St. Lucie Battery & Tire, when and if daughter Lynette can leave rehab, she will have a place to call home.
