Hibiscus Board Member Supports Shelter Renovation Project

Hibiscus Board Member Supports Shelter Renovation Project

Travis Walker of The Law Offices of Travis R. Walker, P.A., generously donated $5,000 to the Hibiscus Shelter Renovation project.  Travis is the Vice Chair of the Hibiscus Children’s Center Board of Directors and has been an active Hibiscus volunteer and supporter since 2014.

The ”Brighter Futures Makeover Project” is in the final phase of the $2 million renovation project.  The Shelter opened its doors to provide safe haven for our community’s abused children in October, 1989.   After 30+ years of wear and tear and over 2,000 children served, the Shelter was in dire need of a complete makeover.  The renovation project has provided a beautiful home for the children as well as enhanced our services and fortified the Shelter so children and staff may shelter in place and help minimize the children’s trauma during a natural disaster.   The interior and exterior facility renovations are completed and the final phase of our project is underway to provide a new parking lot to ensure the safety of our children, staff and visitors.   Travis’ generous gift has helped to provide needed funds for our final phase of the makeover.
