Michelle Montenez,Senior Resident Lifestyle Director at Watercrest and Martha Taylor, Founder of Family Meals

Watercrest St. Lucie West created a fun challenge of making a domino game out of cereal boxes. The facility reached out to Family Meals, Inc. and asked for help collecting enough cereal boxes for their challenge.

Michelle Montanez Senior Resident Lifestyle Director at the facility reached out to Martha Taylor, Family Meals, Inc. President and asked if Family Meals could partner with the facility to help with their domino goal They set a goal of collecting 700 boxes of cereal to guarantee a successful event. Family Meals, Inc. promised to collect 400 of the 700 cereal boxes needed for the challenge.

Family Meals, Inc. spread the word throughout the community that the nonprofit needed to raise 400 of the 700 boxes of cereal to help with the domino challenge.

Wow, our community did not disappoint!!

In a short few weeks over 600 boxes of cereal were donated which far exceeded the goal of 400 cereal boxes!

Representing Family Meals, Inc. Eileen Tilton, Karen Cartwright and Martha Taylor dropped off the collected cereal boxes to the facility. They were on hand again to watch the "dominos" fall. The event was Thursday, February 23 at Watercrest St. Lucie West.

The event was fun and very successful. The “domino” cereal boxes fell throughout the facility as planned!

Watercrest donated all the collected cereal boxes back to Family Meals, Inc. The cereal will go into meal bags to families for the next outreach. Watercrest ended up over 900 boxes of cereal with the combined collections. Amazing!

Family Meals, Inc. is a local, grassroots nonprofit launched in St. Lucie County in 2012. Meal ingredients are delivered to local families along the Treasure Coast to allow families who may go under the radar of social agencies and typically do not ask for food.
