Public Education Week November 1-7 in Fort Pierce
Fort Pierce Mayor Linda Hudson has proclaimed November 1-7, 2017 as Public Education Week in the city. The proclamation encourages all citizens to celebrate the achievements reached in all of the St. Lucie County Schools and to support teachers, children, parents, school employees and community partners in continuing the great accomplishments in all of our schools.
The proclamation is in recognition of the recent success of the local schools. St. Lucie County Public Schools are the 4th most improved school district in the state for graduation rates. They are the 2nd highest rated school district on the Treasure Coast; and there are no failing schools in the district.
“The public and private sector are ‘Working Together for Success’ and it is making a difference,” said Thom Jones, President of the Education Foundation of St. Lucie County. “We have seen a tremendous amount of progress over the last 12 months and more is coming.”
The Education Foundation of St. Lucie County is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation dedicating to advancing public K-12 education. The Foundation has been providing grants to teachers and scholarships to students in St. Lucie County since 1990.
