MC Taxpayers Association Holds Annual Dinner
By Jackie Holfelder
The annual dinner of the Martin County Taxpayers Association (MCTA) took place on January 28 at the Stuart Corinthian Yacht Club.
Keynote speakers were Martin County School Superintendent Dr. John Millay and Martin County Property Appraiser Jenny Fields.
Serving as master of ceremonies was local luminary and MCTA member Tom Campenni.
Martin County Commissioner Ed Ciampi, who introduced VIPs in attendance, provided a heretofore unknown fun fact about each person he introduced during the course of the dinner.
Martin County Tax Collector Ruth Pietreuszewski was honored with the inaugural "Friend to the Taxpayer" award – scheduled to become an annual event - for her fiscal responsibility in running her department.
Founded in January 15, 1950, the MCTA is the oldest taxpayer association in the state of Florida. Its basic purpose is to review, monitor and report on tax and other financial issues that impact the taxpayers of Martin County.
Activities include meeting with local appointed and elected officials including the Board of County Commissioners, the School Board, the County Administrator and/or the staff, the Superintendent of Schools and other key individuals in the County.
