Stepparent and Relative Adoption
Adopting a child is a joyful event. In blended families, step-parents and step-children can form a loving bond that is, in essence, a parent-child relationship in everything but name. Step-parents who want to have the relationship legalized can pursue step-parent adoption. If the child is under 18, his or her birth parent must approve of the adoption and, in so doing, relinquish parental rights. We can also help grandparents and other relatives through the adoption process. We have been so joy filed to be part of this process for many families along the Treasure Coast for years.
It has also been our pleasure throughout the years to help formalize an existing relationship for adult children who have been estranged from their biological families and who have shared a strong and loving bond with a non-relatives and have since decided to honor that relationship by electing to formalize that child parent relationship.
