An opening reception for Scenic Spring at the Galleries at First Pres will be held Sunday, April 14, 2019, from 12:30pm to 3:00pm, at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard, Vero Beach. Featured local artists include Jean Archibald, Pamela Schwartz, and Paul Williams. Tours will be available with an opportunity to meet the artists, and light refreshments will be served. This event is free to the community. The works will be on display from April 14 through June 1, 2019.
Jean Archibald has been drawing and painting since she was a child. Her work in graphite pencil led her to wonder what her work would look like in color. Her realistic watercolor paintings depict beautiful landscapes, old barns, dilapidated houses and boats. Of her work, she said, Being a self-taught artist and having had no formal instruction, my love of watercolor painting has brought me to a level that brings joy to my heart and happiness to the people who love the same and have acquired my works. Mrs. Archibald is now an instructor at the Sebastian River Art Club and teaches watercolor classes on the first and third Tuesday of each month. For more information on her classes, contact her at keel84@aol.com or at (321) 725-1537.
Pamela Schwartz is best known for her thought-provoking work in exploring human emotion using acrylic and glazing techniques on canvas. Schwartz said, "All of humanity longs to discover their purpose in this life. My purpose is to help you examine yours. Pamela received her art degree from Humboldt State University in California. She is a mother of three and teaches third grade at Imagine South Vero.
Paul Williams received his Bachelors Degree in Art Education from Pennsylvania State University. After graduation, he trained in interior design at the Philadelphia College of Art. He worked as a design associate for several architectural firms in Delaware for twenty years before becoming Design Director for American Design Associates in Baltimore. Upon his retirement to Vero Beach in 1997, Paul took up painting seriously. He took many watercolor classes throughout the years at the Vero Beach Museum of Art. Recently, he began using acrylics as well. Williams most recently won first prize in the watercolor category of the Vero Beach Art Clubs annual Art by the Sea exhibition competition. Paul says, very simply, If I like what I see, Ill paint it.
The Galleries at First Pres feature a wide variety of works by local artists, on rotation quarterly throughout the year. The Galleries are located throughout the campus of First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard, Vero Beach; they are open for viewing from 12pm to 3pm, Monday through Thursday. Guided tours are available Wednesdays between 3pm and 5pm. Admission is free and open to the community.

Join us for a reading with Linzi Baxter.
Linzi Baxter lives in Orlando, Florida with her husband and lazy basset hound. She started writing when voices inside her head wouldn’t stop talking until the story was told. When not at work as an IT Manager, Linzi enjoys writing action-packed romances that will take you to the edge of your seat.

She enjoys engaging her readers with strong, interesting characters that have complex and stimulating stories to tell. If you enjoy a little (or maybe a whole lot) of steam and spice, don’t miss checking out White Hat Security series.

When not writing, Linzi enjoys reading, watching college sports (GO UCF Knights), and traveling to Europe. She loves hearing from her readers and can’t wait to hear from you!

Open Poetry hosted by John Lunar Richey
We will be opening the microphone up to any local poets that want to share. We love our local talent here!

Of course our 20 Drafts and great menu fare will make the evening complete.
