About Side Door Brewing Company
On December 5, 2015, Side Door Brewing Company joined the ranks of up and coming Treasure Coast breweries and is part of the Treasure Coast Wine and Ale Trail. Side Door is conveniently located just east of US1 off Village Green Drive in Port St. Lucie and specializes in small batch, hand crafted beers with bold flavors.
December 5th is an important date, as it marks the anniversary of the repeal of prohibition. However, prior to the repeal, proliferation of illegal ("bootlegged") alcohol was on the rise and continued well after Prohibition ended as a means of by passing high taxes on alcohol. Without tax, bootleg liquor was sold much cheaper than legal alcohol and by 1930, bootlegging was an efficiently organized full-fledged industry. It is estimated that over 10,000 speakeasy's were illegally operating at this time. In Chicago, "blind pig" bars operated with blank fronts - patrons had to enter through the Side Door
All brewing is done on site at Side Door and can be enjoyed in the tasting room. The atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming. If you don't know anyone when you sit down, you may just know everyone when you leave. Seating is available indoors and out, and you are welcome to try your hand playing darts, mini ring toss or corn hole.
While Side Door does not offer food, you are free to bring your own, have something delivered or hopefully Gordo's Food Truck will be there serving up delicious treats.
Side Door is a pet friendly establishment.
Don't forget to take home a growler when you leave. On Mondays, growler refills are half price!
