About Children's Services Council

The Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County is an independent district dedicated to providing support for local children and parents in our community. In 1990, an overwhelming majority of voters agreed to establish our Children’s Services Council and to put forth our best effort to provide local children with a safe, productive and flourishing St. Lucie County.

We provide programs and resources for local families that focus on:

• Ensuring every baby is a healthy baby

• Stopping child abuse before it starts

• Keeping our kids off the streets

• Keeping them in school

• Keeping them away from drugs, alcohol and other risky behaviors.

Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie Countyhas worked tirelessly over the last 27 years to ensure that our community is a great place to raise children. By evaluating local needs and strategically targeting investments, along with the help of our partners, we have been able to create a culture in our community that allows every family in every neighborhood access to the tools to ensure that St. Lucie County is for Our Children, Our Community and Our Future.

New Initiatives

One of our newest initiatives is St. Lucie Reads where we are working with local businesses and organizations to help every child in our community read on grade level by 3rd grade.

The Facts:

  • Children are four times more likely to drop out of high school if they do not read on level by grade 3.

  • Every Student that doesn't graduate high school costs society $260,000 in lost earnings, taxes and productivity.

  • Studies have shown that students who do not graduate high school earn 40% less than their peers that do.
