About Sailfish Brewing Company
In 2011 an idea started brewing for Nick Bischoff, owner of Sailfish Brewing Company, opening the Treasure Coast's first brewery. In addition to being the first in the Treasure Coast, the affinity of craft beer had been growing, which, made his dream that much bigger. For some time, he used his garage for brewing beer and testing out different recipes, until the time was right and he felt he could move forward with opening Sailfish Brewing Company.
On April 6, 2013, Sailfish Brewing Company opened their doors to the public on a beautiful piece of property just outside of historic downtown Fort Pierce, in newly named Edgartown. The taproom is actually the third oldest house in Fort Pierce and was originally a pineapple plantation 200 years ago. Sailfish started out with a barrel and a half system, started brewing and haven't stopped since the first brew.
Al Beltran, known as Head Brew Master, feels most at home in the brewery. Brewing beer is not just his craft. Brewing is his passion, soul and expertise. With a background in the restaurant business, Al enjoys blending different flavors together to create a one of a kind, "gotta come back for more experience." Always striving to be the best he can be, Al's motto is, "Live, eat, breathe, sleep - beer."
By mid 2014, the brewery was at capacity with distribution. Nick knew in order to grow organically and have Sailfish beer available for tap as an option for every restaurant , they would have to expand. Just down the street from the original Tap Room and Bier Garden, Sailfish Brewing Company has transformed a vacant building in the heart of Downtown at the corner of 2nd Street and Avenue A. This state of the art 17,000 square foot, 20 barrel system will be able to take Sailfish from the map of the Treasure Coast and encompass the entire state of Florida.
